I live in West Yorkshire, UK, and I'm married with two grown up sons. So have plenty of time on my hands.
I have always enjoyed being artistic, painting in watercolours and oils and selling a few along the way, including calendars and cards of my work.
After a trip to Venice in 2005, where I admired their expensive glass bead necklaces, I was inspired to buy Venetian beads and make my own jewellery, mostly for myself family and friends.
Summer 2008 I found out my husband's cousin Kate had been making her own glass beads and was selling them on her website Sublime Beads. I went to see her at her studio one day and that's when I knew I had to have a go at making them for myself.
For my birthday in October 2008 I bought what I needed from Tuffnell Glass and started to make my own beads. My lovely husband had already made me a little studio/greenhouse built onto the back of our garage, and now it's been converted into my bead workshop.
I am self taught, with help from some good books and U-tube videos. After several months and a lot of beads later I decided to sell some on a website. Hope you like them! Thanks for looking!
Sue.
